THE BOOK
Food tells the story, the legends, the customs and the tastes of a people. Among the cuisines of the various Italian regions, the cuisine of Naples and its surroundings has ancient roots, as ancient as the history of the civilizations that occupied this fascinating area of Italy. This book is a compendium of the culinary history of the region through the centuries. Reference is made both to classical, medieval, renaissance, and contemporary literary texts, including Neapolitan songs and legends handed down over time. The result is almost a historical novel in which the city is the protagonist and where the characters - kings, princesses, cooks, gastronomes and poets, together with the population - tell, directly or indirectly, of sumptuous banquets as well as of popular dishes that we still find today on our tables.

THE WRITER
Author of fiction, poetry, theater plays, and historical research with a focus on Naples and its culture. A former tenured lecturer on Italian literature, history and art history, has collaborated with the Faculty of Letters - University Federico II. Art critic, translator from Spanish to Italian and Spanish teacher, journalist for print and online magazines. She edits a regular travel column in the monthly “Albatros” and writes cultural articles in the semi-annual science art and culture magazine “Bollettino flegreo.” Author of art catalogs and exhibition organizer. Winner of “Premio intercontinentale Le Nove Muse 2023”.
